Yesterday was 5 months since I had the surgery on my ankle and it's feeling pretty good. Most times I don't limp and it feels close to normal. In the mornings when I first walk on it it aches a bit and if I sit for a while then stand up and walk it will ache. I've been able to expand the shoes I can choose to wear so that's a plus. I can wear shoes with a little heel, but the heel has to be as wide as the shoe, not thin almost like a spike. I need stability. I have a hard time walking with any heeled dress shoes anyway, but I do have some shoes that I wear for work that I hope I can put on again when summer is over and I've had a few more months of healing. I'll just have to be careful.

No sign of the kitten since that night. Sylvester has been here several times, but I haven't seen him a few days either. No surprise there. He's semi-regular. He may come to the porch and I just don't see him. I don't put food out unless I do. The ants will get the food if I leave it out. I have to figure out a way to deter them. When I had the old swing, I put the bowl on it and that got it off the ground and gave the cats a nice place to eat, but now with the wrought iron furniture it's not working. I could put the bowl up on the glider, but I'd rather not. I'll come up with something.

I did adoptions tonight, but it was pretty quiet. Nobody even came into the cat room except me the whole time I was there. I am so pleased that Caine is relaxing and showing what a nice, friendly, playful cat he is. I really think getting him to sit on my lap that first time broke the ice for him. Tonight he let me put him down on the floor and he walked around a bit, rubbed against my legs. I walked several feet away then called for him and he came trotting over for pets. I brought some toys out and tossed them and he'd give chase and bat them around, but the kittens were moving around with the toys in play and he was distracted by the kittens. I will be so happy when he gets adopted. He's such a lovely boy. I wish I could take him, but the inn is full here and it wouldn't be fair to him, me or my cats. His home is coming. I just know it.

I took this in May. I've never seen to of them propped up on the arm of the couch. This is Sammy's favorite spot during the day. Leo eventually gave up and surrendered the arm to his sister.

When I was feeding the ferals at work ants were a problem. I would put the food bowl in a bigger bowl with lower sides/plate and fill that with some water. Ants can't get to the food because of the water.
